Erik Moore WG'96
FOUNDER & MANAGING DIRECTOR
Erik Moore is the founder and managing director of Base Ventures, an early-stage tech venture fund. Prior to Base Ventures, Erik was an Angel investor. His track record includes being among the first investors in Zappos (sold for $1.2B to Amazon in 2009) and Plangrid (sold to Autodesk for $875mm in 2018). He spent 15 years in investment banking at Merrill Lynch. He co-founded FlickLaunch.com, a new digital streaming platform on Facebook for feature-length movies. He is a member of several boards, including the Common Ground Foundation founded by Grammy, Oscar and Emmy award winning artist, Common; the city of Oakland’s Fund Advisory Board with Mayor Libby Schaff, and the advisory board of the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD), a Smithsonian Affiliate.
Finally, Erik serves on the board of Driving Force Group which focuses on race equity initiatives and was recently named to the Advisory Council at Dartmouth College. He was recognized as #10 on a list of the top 25 most influential blacks in tech by Business Insider. He mentors and advises several professional athletes.
Erik earned his B.A. from Dartmouth College, an MA in International Studies/French from the University of Pennsylvania Lauder Institute, and his MBA from The Wharton School of Business.
