Cheryl Pegus, M.D., MPH

Cheryl Pegus, M.D., MPH is Chief Medical Officer for SymCare Personalized Health Solutions, a Johnson & Johnson Company, located in West Chester, PA. Prior to assuming this role, Dr. Pegus was the National Medical Director and Head, Clinical Product for Aetna, responsible for developing, prioritizing and articulating the company’s medical management strategy. Prior roles at Aetna, Inc. include National Medical Director for Clinical Program Development, Marketing and Sales for Member Advantage Programs. During her tenure in this role, Dr. Pegus developed the first weight management program launched by a health insurer – Aetna Healthy Body, Healthy Weight. She was initially hired in 2003 by Aetna, Inc. as National Medical Director for Women’s health with responsibilities for launch of programs across a woman’s lifespan and launch of Health Disparity initiatives.
Dr. Pegus is a member of the Board of Directors of the Founder’s Affiliate of the American Heart Association, and the Editorial Advisory Board of Disease Management Advisor. Dr. Pegus is a board-certified physician with subspecialty training in cardiology. She has extensive knowledge and expertise in the areas of women’s health, disease management program development and clinical care for underserved and geriatric populations. She received her Master’s in Public Health form Columbia University School of Public Health, and her M.D. from Cornell University Medical College. She was a Fellow in Cardiology at New York Hospital - Cornell Medical Center, following her internship and residency in internal medicine at New York Hospital – Cornell Medical Center.
