Cynthia Lowery Morris is the Executive Director of the African American Experience Fund (AAEF) of the National Park Foundation (NPF) in Washington, DC, the congressionally chartered non-profit partner of America’s National Parks. In this role she works with a volunteer Board of Trustees who govern the Fund and direct financial and in-kind gift solicitation and public relations strategies to raise visitor awareness of the 19 National Parks and Historic Sites and the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom supported by AAEF.
Morris was recently asked by the National Park Service to manage the development of the Request for Proposal and selection process for the consulting firm conducting the fundraising feasibility study for the Presidential Commission for a National Museum of African American History and Culture. Morris has over thirty years of experience in marketing, sales and fundraising.
Morris has been an active volunteer participant and board member in many community-based organizations including the Urban League and Links, Inc. A native of Chicago, Morris is a graduate of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Education and a Masters of Management degree. Morris resides in Potomac, Maryland with her husband Walter Morris and has two adult children.
