Ed Covington

Senior Vice President, Wachovia Community Banking

Ed is a Senior Vice President at Wachovia and its North Region Market Manager for Community Development Finance. Community Development Finance at Wachovia is principally engaged in providing and arranging real estate financing for housing and commercial projects in targeted (typically low-to-moderate income) communities. The developers for these projects are both for profit and non profit. Ed leads a team that has relationship management responsibility for this activity within a 5 state region in the northeast: PA, DEL, NJ, NY, and CT. Ed moved to Philadelphia to assume this position in January, 2005.

Prior to his current position, Ed was based in Atlanta, GA where he was a Managing Director and Group Head for Wachovia’s Asset Backed Conduit Finance unit within its Corporate and Investment Banking Division. This business unit structures asset securitization transactions for Wachovia’s corporate client base with execution via the asset backed commercial paper market.

A native of Philadelphia, Ed received a B.S.B.A. degree, magna cum laude from Boston University. Ed’s banking career spans over 25 years with positions in New York City and Chicago with predecessor institutions of JP Morgan Chase prior to joining Wachovia in 1997.
