Supporting Organizations

With our diverse student population, our AAMBAA members receive additional support from our partner organizations, the Wharton African Students Association (WASA) and the Caribbean Business Initiative Club (CARIBIZ).

WASA

WASA is an all-inclusive organization that strives to raise the profile and awareness of Africa as a viable business and leisure destination within and beyond the Wharton community. WASA is dedicated to: increasing the awareness of African issues at Wharton; providing career and leadership opportunities to its members; promoting business in Africa; strengthening ties between students, alumni, and African businesspeople. In addition, WASA sponsors the Wharton African Business Forum (whartonglobal.com/africa) taking place Saturday, November 10, 2007.

CARIBIZ

Caribiz is an inclusive organization that welcomes all who have an interest in Caribbean economic affairs and development. Its mission is to support the economic development of the Caribbean. CARIBIZ intends to enhance the Wharton community by providing greater exposure to the business and economic diversity of the Caribbean. This mission is based on the belief that the economic environment of the Caribbean can be improved in part through greater exposure to those individuals seeking investment opportunities.

Our WMY Emerging Markets & International Opportunities panel is co-sponsored by WASA and CARIBIZ.

In addition, AAMBAA supports the students of the Black Wharton Undergraduate Association, BWUA. The mission of BWUA is to maintain and increase the academic success of African-American students on the undergraduate level; to increase communication between the student body and the University administration; to establish and maintain relationships between students and the external corporate community; and to represent the African-American interest in business or business-related issues for undergraduates at the University of Pennsylvania. BWUA will present its 21 th Annual Howard E. Mitchell Memorial Forum on January 21, 2006.
